Snippet Sunday

From The Laird Needs a Wife (Chapter 1)

As jail cells went, she’d seen worse. Compared to Thailand, a holding cell in Paris could be considered luxurious. It had stainless steel benches bolted to the walls. It smelled like disinfectant rather than urine. And they even had the courtesy to provide a toilet. Diana Nichols shook her head as she silently laughed. She’d screwed up again. If she hadn’t been self-employed, she’d be fired.

Another Heroine Zooming Around China

"I felt as if I'd become the eighth wonder of the world as they ogled and pointed, and I told myself that it was my ravishing beauty that enthralled them. But of course I knew it wasn't that." For the Snippet Sunday Readers

And anybody else who would like a peek of my fantasy work-in-progress. Mag-Elen is one kick-ass faerie heroine. Here's a snippet of intro from the prologue.

Mag-Elen swept nonexistent dust into the fire, propped her broom in a corner, then fled to the stables to kick the straw that dared get in her way. Faerie and human were no different in their pettiness and greed, she fumed. They only cared for self glory. She stumbled and fell against Mayla’s stall door and was instantly contrite as the horse whinnied and backed away. Mag-Elen stood still and leaned against the stall door. She was rewarded with the soft nuzzling of Mayla’s muzzle against her cheek. She couldn’t help comparing the softness of Mayla to the tenderness of Torloch. The same sweet smell of hay and horseflesh, for Torloch had been in warrior training and spent most of his day astride. She hid her tears against the horse’s cheek. No one would ever see her cry. She would avenge Torloch’s death, but other than killing her own father, what recourse did she have?

Our first Feisty Sexy Heroine Nomination

WHAT'S NEW ON
JKROWLING.COMOur first FSH (Oh Lordy I didn't realize I'd end up with fish. It figures.) is J.K. Rowling. Her new book is out under her current nom de plume Robert Galbraith. Even her writing persona sounds sexy. Go Jo! We love you. Here's a link to Fox News.
